Naruzawa Ice Cave
Naruzawa Ice Cave is located at the eastern entrance to the Aokigahara Forest and is counted among the attractions of the Fuji Five Lakes, drawing a steady stream of tourists year-round. These two tunnel-like caves were formed more than 1,150 years ago, in the 6th year of the Jōgan era (864), when Mount Nagao—a subsidiary volcano of Mount Fuji—erupted, and scorching lava flows (known as Aokigahara Maruo) cascaded down through the gaps between ancient parasitic volcanoes.
